Dalian is a city with a population of 5.5 million people located at the southern end of the Laodong peninsula. Dalian is the 3rd largest port in China and ranks #1 in the country for export cargo volume.

The surrounding area is rich in natural resources including limestone, silica, marble, granite and diamonds. The city is a major industrial area in Northeast China with major industrial activity in the machinery, refinery, petrochemical, textile and electronics industries.
